The Hollywood Reporter divulged the news that John Wesley Shipp has been cast as a mystery role in the pilot of the CW’s show, The Flash. Shipp originally played Barry Allen/The Flash in the CBS 1990s series The Flash. Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and Geoff Johns will be writing the pilot. Geoff Johns recently joked with ComicBook.com that could connect Shipp to Jay Garrick.

We’ve seen The Flash a few other times before on screen. Grant, do you have a favorite past portrayal?
Grant Gustin: To be honest, I’ve never seen anybody else portray The Flash. The last time a series was around, I was an infant. [Both John Wesley Shipp and I] are from Norfolk, Virginia, which is strange. Not that many people are. Our birthdays are a week apart…it is sort of strange, I guess.
Johns: He’s the Flash of Earth 2.

I sure hope we get to see live action Jay Garrick!

Bleeding Cool reports a rumor that what happens before DC’s weekly series The New 52: Futures End set 5 years in the future is a multiverse war.
I wonder if this will tie into Grant Morrison’s Multiversity.

Bleeding Cool reports a rumor that what happens before DC’s weekly series The New 52: Futures End set 5 years in the future is a multiverse war.

I wonder if this will tie into Grant Morrison’s Multiversity

Associated Press revealed DC’s new weekly title set five years in the future, The New 52: Futures End. The series will be written by Jeff Lemire, Keith Giffen, Brian Azzarello and Dan Jurgens. Artists will include Ethan Van Sciver, Jesus Merino, Aaron Lopresti, Dan Jurgens, and more.
It’s interesting to note that all the writers of this series except for Azzarello are also visual artists.
Though it is cool that Batman Beyond is coming into current continuity my first reaction to the cover was:
DC looks like it is just throwing OMAC at a wall until it sticks.
