Power Girl and Huntress return to the ruins of Earth 2, but they question whether their trip was worth the effort as they discover the state of their former home and friends.

Bleeding Cool covered DC’s All Access panel at WonderCon. Here is what they had to say about Earth 2 books:

Also coming up, we have Earth 2: World’s End, and Mike Cotton said that a lot of stuff happening in other books leading up to this will “come to a head” with Daniel H. Wilson writing, and Paul Levitz will be involved. It’s really “about the end of the world” and asking “How do you handle your world falling apart and fighting gods?” “It’s dark and mean and I don’t like happy endings” said Cotton.

If I had to bet, I would say at least Worlds’ Finest gets the axe before Earth 2: World’s End starts.

Nerdist has revealed that DC’s third weekly series premiering in October 2014 will be entitled, Earth 2: World’s End. The series will be written byTom Taylor, Paul Levitz, Daniel H. Wilson, Marguerite Bennet, and Mike Johnson. The art on the series will be provided by Eddy Barrows, Jorge Jimenez, Stephen Segovia, Paulo Siqeira, and Tyler Kirkham.
The above image by Ben Oliver shows that things aren’t going too well for Val, Power Girl, Batman, Huntress, Doctor Fate, and Green Lantern. For that matter Apokolips crushing the planet doesn’t bode well either.
Update: I just noticed that Batman is holding Huntress the same way Batman is holding Robin on the collected Batman: A Death in the Family (Jason Todd’s Death).
Do you think this will be in addition or in place of Earth 2 and Worlds’ Finest?
What do you think of this series?

Comic Vine has a preview of the “First Contact” crossover in Worlds’ Finest #21 by Paul Levitz, Greg Pak, R.B. Silva, Joe Weems, and Norm Rapmund.
It is kind of odd that DC is skipping part 3 of this crossover and publishing part 4 first. Batman/Superman #9 (part 3) is scheduled to come out April 16, 2014.

Paul Levitz spoke to Newsarama about his new position on BOOM! Studios board of directors. He said this about his current work for DC:

Paul Levitz…DC kept me very happily occupied for decades, so that’s been the core of what I’ve done. And I’m still very happy to be working with them, and hope to be doing that for a long time to come.
Newsarama: So you’re not stopping your DC work because you’re on the board at BOOM.
Levitz: No.

The article also talked about how it was his idea to make 52 a weekly series after Infinite Crisis. I wonder if he will be working on the new weekly coming this fall.
