Justice Society of Alcatraz

On last night’s episode of Alcatraz entitled, “Kit Nelson” two Justice Society of America comics made appearances.

The first book to appear is James Robinson and Mark Bagley’s Justice Society of America #42 with The Flash and Dr. Fate on the cover.

The second book to appear was Geoff Johns, Alex Ross, and Dale Eaglesham’s Justice Society of America #12 with Power Girl, Green Lantern, Flash, Superman, Lightning, Mister America, Judomaster, Amazing Man, David Reid, and Jakeem Thunder on the cover.

The premise of the show is when Alcatraz was shut down in 1963 instead of all 302 inmates being transfered, one night they mysteriously disappeared. Now in present day they are starting to reappear unaged. San Francisco Police Department Detective Rebecca Madsen (Sarah Jones) finder herself with an unlikely partner, Alcatraz expert and comic book enthusiast Doctor Diego “Doc” Soto working for government agent Emerson Hauser (Sam Neill).

The program shows some Lost like overarching mystery potential though it can easily become a formulaic bad-time-traveling-criminal-of-the-week show. It is a great time to catch up with the show. It is only three episodes in and all of them are streaming on Fox’s site. Plus Doc’s character should bring in a steady source of comic book references.
